WashU Ideas discussion; side event at World Health Assembly 2025

In partnership with the Quality Evidence for Health System Transformation (QuEST) Network and the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, WashU Public Health hosted a panel May 22, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, to highlight new trend data from the People’s Voice Survey, a multicountry survey revealing perspectives on health system performance.

Installation of Dean Sandro Galea

Sandro Galea, MD, DrPH, the inaugural dean of Washington University School of Public Health, is installed as the Margaret C. Ryan Dean of Public Health and the Eugene S. and Constance Kahn Distinguished Professor in Public Health. The ceremony was Jan. 30, 2025, in the Clark-Fox Forum at Hillman Hall on the university’s Danforth Campus.

Sandro Galea, MD, DrPH, the inaugural dean of Washington University School of Public Health, gave an Assembly Series talk, “Why Health? Reimagining What We Think About When We Think About Health,” on Jan. 29, 2025, at the university’s Graham Chapel.

2024 Public Health Conference

“Why Health? New directions for population health science and the foundations of a new school of public health” was presented by Sandro Galea, MD, DrPH, then the Dean Designate of WashU School of Public Health, at the 2024 Public Health Annual Conference in October at WashU’s Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Medical Campus. In his talk, Galea offered a preliminary look at his vision for building on WashU’s existing public health strengths and expanding its commitment to the field by shaping WashU’s first new school in 100 years.
